Ultrawideband Wireless Sensor Networks

Application of chaos in communications, in particular, wireless communications is actively investigated since 1990s [1–5]. Direct chaotic scheme of wireless communications employs chaotic radio pulses as information carriers. This scheme was proposed in 2000 [6–7]. At that time the first experiments were made with this scheme in 900–1000 MHz range. In 2001 investigation of UWB direct chaotic systems begun [8]. In 2005 direct chaotic communication systems were proposed for use in IEEE 802.15.4a standard and in 2007 were adopted as option for this standard [9, 10]. Thus, international engineering society came to conclusion that communication systems with chaotic signal «matured» for wide use. In this report, principles of direct chaotic communications are introduced, its features discussed, and UWB transceivers PPS-40 and PPS-50 are described.
